Zealously fusing Gospel, R&B, and Hip-Hop from his African roots, artist AR Base is redefining worship and cultivating a harvest of changed hearts. Originating from the Isoko tribe in Nigeria, AR’s unique call to ministry began at the early age of fifteen when he became a pastor, boldly preaching wherever he went. Beginning by giving sermons on public buses, he eventually started a church at the age of sixteen, and was leading a life of full time ministry for several years thereafter. It was in the church that he first became involved as a praise and worship leader, and quickly became a noteworthy singer, even being featured on television shows such as The Dream, and numerous radio stations. Today, AR Base has sung in mega churches all around the world, from House on the Rock in Lagos to the West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles. He has even backed up gospel giants such as Patty LaBelle, Marvin Winans, Beverly Crawford, Shirley Cesar and more.
From this unique background, AR Base’s music plants an anointed presence, and flourishes by inspiring hearts to be changed, minds to be uplifted, and lives to be transformed for the kingdom of God. AR, whose name originates from Arure, meaning “it is finished,” intends to live up to his name by fulfilling his God given purpose of bringing the word through world-wide musical evangelism. It is AR Base’s unique ability to combine practical messages about everyday life, into catchy harmonious melodies that have people such as the renowned praise and worship leader, Panam Percy Paul, pronouncing him to be a “big blessing.” Everywhere he sings, people leave motivated, and are inspired by the Spirit filled power of his words and music.
With the highly anticipated release of his fourth album, “Change My Heart,” AR’s passion, musical range, and dedication shine through with a powerful collection of inspirational songs. From the prayerful melody, “I Need a Miracle Now,” which gives voice to cries for breakthrough, to the stunningly reflective “Prioritize Your Life,” motivating a call to destiny, AR Base’s lyrical content cuts through to both mind and spirit. In the soulful song “He Will Keep You,” his words gently encourage and remind us that “sometimes life brings trials so hard to face, it makes you want to give up and quit the race, see you can’t ignore the past, and you still can feel the pain, but I promise you in his time, he will give you rain.” Transcending all expectations, “Change My Heart” showers you with an anointed presence and nourishes you into a renewed life of spiritual maturity.
Inspired by such icons as Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross, Marvin Winans, and Donnie McClurkin, AR Base synthesized his creative talents into the first two albums which he wrote and co-produced with Rob Miller for Romi Studios. Later signed to the indie label Gee Ray Records in 2007, AR completed his third album “Steady”, which he himself produced alongside Gee Ray. Having been featured on various albums, AR Base gained recognition with his appearances on “Cry of Africa” in 2005, and on “Baba Ye,” with the legendary Nigerian saxophone player Mike Aremu. With a myriad of vocal experiences, AR Base has honed his skills to deliver a rare blend of lyrical depth and spiritual enlightenment into a silky smooth deliverance leaving you thirsty for more.
Today, AR hopes his prophetic music about life’s lessons will bring people closer to God, break the yokes of the enemy, initiate healing, and bring glory to the Most High. “I intend to bring people’s hearts back to God, and reach people all over the world by cutting across cultures and breaking down barriers,” he concludes. This is the very core that makes AR Base a musician to the world, a minister to the common, and a man after God’s own heart.
