SHARON WYNN ISHMAN has only been ministering in music for a little over 36 years. She is a Gary native. She has worked diligently with Inspire, a not for profit organization, that she and her husband Ray of 35 years founded which does community service. She has also served as minister of music in various venues, and has been a Praise and Worship Leader for more than 36 years. Because of her exceptional demanding voice and stage presentation, she has ministered in several deliverance services at women’s retreats throughout Northwest Indiana. She has written several songs, directed, and performed in gospel plays, skits, etc, based on her life’s experiences. She was a finalist in the Gospel Music Association’s “Music in the Rockies” in 2008. Sharon has been featured as a soloist on various recording projects. She has represented the City of Gary in various media venues.
She is also involved with various outreach ministries in her hometown, which includes Intercessory Prayer Warrior, smoking cessation program, soup kitchen, Sunday School Teacher, DCS Community Based Service Provider and many others. However, street ministry and music ministry is her passion. In addition to her ministerial work, she and her husband have been blessed, to send all of their seven children (6 sons, 1 daughter) on to receive college degrees. Music — gospel in particular — has been a perpetual element in her life and home. They are also blessed with 4 grandchildren. She has shared the gift given to her by God and passed it on to her children — and why not — she has an automatic built in choir, musicians, writers, music directors, etc.!! She has a completed a project entitled “High Praise” where most of the songs are written by her, and is now working on a project with great expectations tentatively titled “Seasoned”, based on her life’s experience.
